Exploring Process: A Visiting Artist Workshop with Jessica Smith
Join us on Saturday, April 6, 2024 for a Visiting Artist workshop with Alabama-based artist and ceramics professor Jessica Smith! We are excited to offer this workshop in conjunction with Jessica's solo exhibition "Multitudes," which will be on display at the Clay Center March 8 - April 6, 2024.

During this workshop, Jessica will demonstrate sculptural techniques and explore processes that she uses to create her artwork. She'll also discuss the ins and outs of press molds, assembling sculptural forms, glazing strategies for precarious pieces, and other working methods.

This workshop will include a slide lecture, hands-on demonstrations, and then a chance to roll up your sleeves with an experiential component! The workshop will run from 10 am to 4 pm, with a one-hour break for lunch. We have basic communal clay tools available, but we encourage you to bring your personal tool kit if you'd like, especially a needle tool and serrated rib.
